Oh, Why Hello.

It seems that tumblr is still here, and that as a human being with very reasonable needs and desires, i cannot get myself to stay away from social networks. Now, whether tumblr is a social network or not, one can argue that it is not, but after deactivating my facebook for the first time in over 5 years, i feel a sense of loss. i feel disconnected from the world, but that may be a good thing.

I am such a social networker that taking a step back and giving myself some breathing space will be good for me. it might be good to have time to myself, experience life myself, and not worry about what other people will think or say, or updating my 1000+ “friends” on facebook about what i am doing and what is going on in my life. i am beginning to wonder what makes a “friend” a “friend.” and how facebook has changed that definition; and now we are confused with the skewed definition of a “friend,” thinking its what a friend is, rather than what one should be.

Cheap gas, less sass.

So… I pumped gas for $2.69 the other day when gas was $3.30.

the less i pay for gas, the happier of a camper i am. so how did i get around to getting this wonderful deal? well, if you’re in a town where the grocery store “Giant Eagle” is available, then you are in luck! If not, then I am very sorry to say, you are not very lucky.

Here’s the deal:

Giant eagle offers something called fuel perks. you hear about it all the time, you see it in commercials, but you never really look into it because it just seems to good to be true. wrong, its true. its more than true. its the truest of the true.

Here’s the deal:

for every $50 you spend, you get 20cents off of gas. oh, 50$ seems like a lot of money for groceries? well youre in luck. they have a ton of GIFT CARDS for different shopping stores, department stores, and restaurants. things like khols, applebees, starbucks, itunes, etc.

so when you buy gift cards, those count too!

just remember to always scan your giant eagle card. the moment you get those points, you have two months to redeem them or to keep building them up and then redeem them. I’ve gotten $1.20 off of gas before when gas was soaring!

Here’s what I did:

I bought groceries: $50

I knew i was going to buy a pair of running shoes from kohls, so i bought a $50 gift card from there.

I also knew i was going to put more money on my starbucks card. so i bought 2 $15 gift cards, then when i did go to starbucks, i just had them combine all of it onto my gold card.

I knew i needed art supplies and michaels had a 40% off coupon. so i bought a $50 gift card at giant eagle, got the points for it, and then when i went to michaels, i used the 40% coupon on TOP of that! so i basically got free gas, AND 40% off my art supplies.

so what does this total?

$50x3= 60 cents off of gas. (20 cents for every 50 dollars.)

i am about $20 dollars away from getting 20 cents off gas again. and it just keeps building up.

That is how my roommate melody and I pumped gas for $2.69.

BONUS.

here’s what is great about this. i have a small car that only holds 10 gallons. when you go to pump gas, you have up to 30 gallons with the giant eagle fuel perks. so this is what you do. you apply for a giant eagle advantage card and you get 3 cards. you and 3 other friends with 10 gallon cars all use that account when you shop at giant eagle. you accumulate points faster and when its time to get gas, all three of you can go together and pump. one person pays with a credit card, everyone else can pay them back in cash.

simply genius i tell you. and that, my friend, is how i pumped for 60 cents less than everyone else. welcome to the world of poor college student with a car that needs gas to run.

i am one happy camper. goodnight.

oh this was so amazingggg.

past, present, future.

sometimes looking into the past affirms your present and encourages for your future. looking back to where i was two years ago really makes me understand why things happened the way they did, and gives me so much encouragement for what will come in the near future. all that i need now is for my present, which is really just a repeat of the past, to blow off far enough into the past so i can look back on it.
